Actualization of Free Life

Residential Apartment Designed by Li Min Chen

The L-shaped layout in this house is dissimilar to the general layouts in houses. This residential interior design project built the dual traffic flows at the entryway, the arrangement not only relocating the bathroom but also connecting the dual traffic flows individually to the public and the private areas.

Some spaces cannot be defined in a single style or classified in a single group. This residential interior design exemplifies this perspective. Neither the new classical nor the modern styles can elaborate on this design plan. The actualization of free life is the precise core value that Li Min Chen wants to convey.

One of the dual traffic flows can bring people to the living room, while the other leads to the bedrooms, dining room, and kitchen. This design idea not only shortens the traffic flows but also establishes the transitions of the circle scenes in the house.

The property spans 238 square meters and is located in Taichung, Taiwan. The project was completed in October 2019.

In the living room, a mirror reflecting the outdoor scene in another area combines the views from different spaces. Additionally, the dual traffic flows laid out at the entryway are smooth and suitable for space arrangement. The house also features a private meeting room where the delicate transitions of spaces are inconspicuous, and the space arrangements are tidy and efficient.

The design incorporates various materials and textures to create a composed and elegant atmosphere. The stone and titanium-plated door frame at the entryway manifests a grand ambiance. The study room adjoining the living room is decorated with tabu veneers, gradually embellished with dark gray and a hint of green, which harmonize with the furniture. The parlor and bedroom are ornamented with lacquers, paints, and steel pieces, displaying a composed and elegant texture.

The design concept of elegant quality life presented several challenges, including achieving flexible space arrangements, broad views, dual traffic flows, and smooth transitions. However, these challenges were successfully overcome in the interior design.

The Actualization of Free Life design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
